Agri Manufacturing - Westway

Westway Feed Products, a producer and distributor of bulk liquid feed products, operating multiple terminals with a nationwide logistics and supply chain footprint, faced increasing operational challenges due to a fragmented landscape of legacy transportation and warehouse systems. The ISV-driven environment relied heavily on manual spreadsheets and disconnected processes to manage freight charges, accessorials, carrier settlements, and inventory across terminals. This resulted in limited tank-level visibility, inconsistent dispatch operations, inaccuracies in freight accruals, and significant manual effort to reconcile high volumes of freight invoices impacted by weight, mileage, and carrier variances.

Pi Square Technologies played a key role in the re-implementation of Microsoft Dynamics 365 Finance & Operations, supporting the consolidation of Supply Chain Management (SCM), Advanced Warehouse Management (WMS), and Transportation Management (TMS) into a unified platform. Using a hybrid functional–technical delivery approach, our team contributed to the execution of centralized freight and accessorial charge processing with automated matching, significantly reducing spreadsheet dependency. We supported the standardization of dispatch, loading, weighbridge integration, and tank transfer processes across terminals, and implemented advanced batch, weight, and quality management capabilities tailored to bulk-liquid operations. The solution was implemented with scalability in mind, enabling streamlined onboarding of new terminals, carriers, and external tank integrations as the business evolves.

The initiative delivered measurable and sustainable business outcomes. Manual freight processing effort was substantially reduced through automation, while accuracy in freight accruals and cost center allocations improved. Real-time visibility into tank inventory, batches, and in-transit goods enhanced operational planning and decision-making. Dispatch efficiency increased through standardized processes, resulting in faster load turnaround times and improved consistency across terminals. Overall, the transformation modernized a fragmented legacy environment into a scalable Dynamics 365 platform, strengthening logistics execution, improving financial control, and supporting continued growth across the client’s nationwide bulk-liquid supply chain.
